OBA

Jude's Training Site For Managing Your OBA Business

Advertising:  Part 1

It's simple, but not easy!  That's how I think of marketing and promoting on the internet.

If you haven't read the Internet Wealth Report, written by the Online Business Alliance owner Dave Gray, I recommend that you read it to understand what the internet can do for you, and what it can't do for you.  If you are already an OBA member, you can access the report from your back office.

If you're not an
OBA member, you can click on the banner at the top of this page and get the report sent to you by email, one email each day for 7 days.

As Dave points out in his report, "the internet is not magic".  Contrary to the hype that we often come across in our travels across cyberspace, your computer will never turn into an ATM machine overnight, so don't believe it!

Sure you can earn money while you sleep, but only if you
do the work while you're awake.

OBA is an internet business, selling digital products and AdSpace™ leases on the internet.

To have a successful internet business, you must bring visitors (potential buyers) to your sales webpages; a percentage of those visitors will buy a product;  a percentage of your buyers will choose to look at the business, and a percentage of those who look at the business opportunity will decide to "work" the business.

It's that simple.  No visitors = no customers = no business.

So the first thing you need to do is to get potential customers to visit your sales webpages. Without "traffic" or "visitors" or "viewers" or "prospects", you can't make sales.  The internet doesn't make you money.  You can earn money by selling products or services that people want. But they have to know about it before they can buy it.

OBA provides sales webpages and marketing tools in a similar way to an affiliate program, although the payment model is that of a franchise business.

You could say it is the best of both worlds: As a business owner you get the benefit of an affiliate marketing support system and the financial rewards of a franchise business.

I mention this because it is necessary for you to use correct and appropriate links whenever you post your link or advertise your web pages.

You will find your OBA-hosted referral URLs listed in your back office under the Sales Pages menu. If you are already logged in, you can click here to see them right now.

Important Note About Email Advertising Campaigns:

You may NOT use any OBA-hosted sales page URLs (links) in emails, and that includes, safelists, solo-ads, or any other type of opt-in email lists, nor can you use forwarding and masking of OBA-hosted URLs (links) in any type of email advertising.

That means you are not allowed to insert your OBA referral URLs (links) from your back office into any advertising that involves emails.

If you are logged in, you can read the warning here.

However, don't panic!  There are many other web-based advertising places on the internet that you can use to promote your sales pages that do not involve emails.

And by all means you can also use email and safelist marketing, but if you do, you MUST ensure that the URL (link) you provide inside your email sends visitors to
your own hosted sales pages, not to sales pages that are hosted on the OBA servers.

You will find instructions in your back office for setting up your own website using free hosting services.

OBA provides an interface and instructions in your back office for setting up your own hosted web pages, inlcuding all the coding for your pages, and provides support at the Owner's Business Center for people needing help with hosting their own pages."

You will find instructions in your back office for setting up your own website using free hosting services at Freehostia.

This protects OBA from spam complaints. It does not protect you, so be sure you adhere to the OBA No Spam rules, which you will find here if you are logged in.
