If you are a little lost when it comes to banners, read this informative booklet written by the owners of the TrafficRoundUp traffic exchange. Though it's written for their traffic exchange, the basics apply to traffic exchanges and advertising sites in general.

When placing banners in most advertising places, you will not be able to use a banner that is just sitting on your computer. Some banner exchanges and advertising sites will let you load an image file directly from your computer, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Generally you will need to upload the banner image to an image hosting service. There are many free image hosting services on the internet. Imageshack is one such free image hosting service.

The advertising site will ask you to provide two pieces of information: the banner location or address (where your banner image is hosted) and the target link to where the visitor will be taken to view your advertised page (your OBA referrral link or your own-hosted website).

I mostly use personalised banners with my photo and recommend that you do too. However, below are some generic graphics. You are free to use any banner below. Right click on the image and select "save as", and save the file on your computer and upload it to your own hosting account, if you have one, or to a free image hosting service such as Imageshack.

You will find many banners and splash pages in their respective threads at the OBC. You are most welcome to use them. Hint: use the links at the top of the OBC menu to get to those sections quickly.

You may also wish to add text or overlay an image onto your banner image. Click here to see the Free Online Image Editor that I used to create the banners below. First you need to upload a blank banner template, and for this purpose you can upload the image from your computer.

I've added a blank banner below, if you wish to give it a try. Right click and Save As to your computer and name it. Then upload it from your computer to the image editor and start working. It's fun. When you are finished, save it back to your computer.
